Every format I offer follows the same principle: the body is at the centre — not the style, not the choreography. Technique, body conditioning and expression are not a sequence. They are a whole.
Group classes — Oriental dance Bern & Zürich · weekly · Intermediate to advanced
My regular classes take place once a week in Bern and Zürich and are designed for dancers with a foundation who want to expand their vocabulary and train in a focused group setting. Each period — around eight weeks — has a specific focus: technique, style, musicality or choreography. You can join at any point during the period.
My base is the classical Egyptian style. Depending on the theme, the rhythm or the movement task at hand, I draw from the Argentine stylised tradition, from Reda technique — especially for formations and floor work — and from neo-Andalusian vocabulary. Not style-switching, but vocabulary: I bring every tool I have.

Private sessions are for those who want to work on something specific: deepening a technique, developing a choreography, sharpening their own expression — or simply training in a format that adapts to their rhythm.
In private coaching I work with oriental dance, classical ballet for adults and elements of Progressive Ballet Technique (PBT). In-person in Bern or Zürich, or online.

I have been teaching as a guest instructor for over 20 years — in Switzerland, across Europe, Egypt and South America. My workshops combine technical depth with cultural context, and adapt to the level and focus of the hosting organisation.

What you need to know before coming to class
With the exception of the courses especially for beginners, my oriental dance classes are aimed at dancers of the upper intermediate level, so it is important that you already have experience before attending a course.
Participation in a trial lesson is possible after prior notice by e-mail, SMS or telephone call. A fee of CHF 20.00 must be paid before the lesson.
Arrival to the dance room is possible 15 minutes before the start of the class. After the end of the class, students should leave the room within 15 minutes.
During class periods with specific themes (veil, cane, zills, etc.) each participant must bring their own accessory to class.
Online private lessons can be held via Skype, FaceTime or Zoom. These lessons should be arranged beforehand through my contact form, e-mail, SMS or phone call. Please take a look at the term and conditions for online private lessons.
In any case, with the registration to a dance course the following terms and conditions of classes are accepted:
Terms and Conditions
For regular classes and workshops organized by Lorena
- Participation in the classes will be considered acceptance of these terms and conditions, and of any ongoing updates to these terms and conditions.
- Regular courses last approximately 8 weeks (dance period) and are held throughout the year. It is possible to join a course at any time during the dance period – in this case, only the remaining classes of the current period will be charged.
- A trial class can be attended upon prior announcement through e-mail, SMS or phone call. A fee of CHF 20,00 is to be paid before class.
- Participants agree to register their attendance for every dance period and provide Lorena with true and correct information including full name, phone number and e-mail address.
- Fees form part of the registration process. They must be paid by the due date on the invoice or up to 14 days from the start of the course. In case of workshops, the due dates are submitted to the registration process for each event. Once paid, fees are final, non-refundable, non-transferable and non-extendable.
- There are two ways to register for classes: for the entire period to a fixed price or by paying for single classes. Cancellations to single classes are possible without any fee up to 24 hours before class. In case the participant registered to a single class cancels her/his attendance afterwards the participant will still have to pay for the class.
- Lorena reserves the right to cancel courses, workshops or lessons at any time. Refunds will only be made when a course, workshop or lesson is cancelled short-term or when there is a long-term illness or long-term injury.
- Classes may be physically strenuous. Participation is voluntary, based on a participant’s own assessment of their state of fitness, health, ability to participate and the understanding of the class requirements, activities and expected outcomes. Participants agree that Lorena or any guest teacher is in no way responsible for personal injury. Participants are responsible for ensuring their own physical and mental health for, during and after classes including injury rehabilitation and general post-class care.
- Insurance is the responsibility of the participants. Lorena does not assume any liability for damages related to the attendance of the courses or private lessons (e.g. accidents, stolen or damaged objects).
For online lessons with Lorena
- A private lesson can be booked upon prior announcement through the contact form, e-mail, SMS or phone call.
- Cancellations to an online private lesson are possible without any fee up to 24 hours before class. In case the participant registered for an online private lesson cancels her/his session afterwards the participant will still have to pay for the class.
- Lorena reserves the right to cancel any online private lesson at any time.
How can I pay classes
If you decide to register for a dance period, the fee can be paid cash on the first day of class or via bank transfer, TWINT or SumUp (extra charge of 1,5%).
Single classes should be paid cash or via TWINT or SumUp and prior to the start of the class.
In case of online private lessons, these should be paid within 2 days from the effective day of class. They can be also paid or via bank transfer, TWINT or SumUp (extra charge of 1,5%).
